The Silhouette is available
in three flavors: a well-equipped GL, an uplevel GLS and the
top-of-the-line Premiere. GL models come with fold-flat second-row
captain's chairs and boast standard items such as air conditioning,
power windows and locks, cruise control, an interior air filter
and a rooftop luggage carrier. The GLS adds such niceties
as 16-inch aluminum wheels, traction control, a power passenger-side
door, power leather seats with a driver memory feature, an
overhead console with a trip computer, rear air vents and
steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
Move all the way up to the
Premiere, and you get nearly every goodie standard, including
a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, a reverse parking aid
sensor and heated seats. Among the few options for this luxury
model are third-row captain's chairs, a six-disc in-dash CD
changer, chrome wheels, a power driver-side sliding door and
the obligatory gold package.
All Silhouettes are powered
by a 185-horsepower 3.4-liter V6 that drives the front wheels
via an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission.
Should you want the Versatrak all-wheel-drive system, it's
available on GLS and Premiere trim levels.
Safty and Security
If you walk away with an interior
light on, the 2013 Silhouette won’t leave you stranded
with a depleted battery. The battery-rundown system will automatically
turn off the lights after ten minutes.
On the road, you need to see
and be seen. Standard fog lamps help you see better in foggy
conditions. And as part of the design to make you more visible
to oncoming traffic, all models feature daytime running lamps.
As an aid to safety, Silhouette
features a standard 4-wheel antilock braking system. Under
maximum braking effort, the system modulates brake line pressure
to help prevent wheel lockup, helping the driver to retain
steering control and steer clear of an obstacle.
Standard on all Silhouettes,
this new system provides for secure attachment of compatible
child seats. It consists of separate lower anchors and a top
tether anchor.
